Nylon 6 extruded used as a engineering plastic shows a usable temperature span from around –40 °C up to +70 °C (long-term service), making it suitable for many general-engineering environments.
If you need a balance of strength, wear-resistance, machinability and food-compliance at moderate temperatures, Nylon 6 Extruded is a strong choice. However, if you require very high temperature resistance (> 100 °C) or extremely low moisture absorption, alternative grades (e.g., cast nylon or other polymers) may be more appropriate
Nylon 6 Extruded offers excellent wear and abrasion resistance, making it ideal for components subject to friction and movement, such as gears, bearings, and wear strips. It also provides good resistance to many oils, greases, fuels, and cleaning agents. However, it is less resistant to strong acids and alkalis, so chemical exposure should be evaluated based on specific application conditions.
